Kalpitiya beach is one of Sri Lanka's hidden jewels, surrounded by a close-knit fishing community and relatively undiscovered by the tourism sector. The Kalpitiya area is essentially a marine sanctuary with varied marine creature habitats. The ocean at Kalpitiya Beach is home to Spinner dolphins and a rare type of Sperm Whale, which is the beach's main draw. Kalpitiya Beach is ideal for sunbathing due to its sandy beaches and tropical environment.

Aside from this, there are a variety of additional activities available. Explore the marine life by snorkeling in the deep seas of the ocean, or take boat and canoe journeys to discover the hidden marvels of the beach. You may also take jeep rides around the beach's sandy dunes, which provide wonderful views of the sunset. You may also easily visit the Bar Reef, a stunning coral garden in the middle of the ocean with the highest biodiversity of any reef in Sri Lanka.
