Bayahibe, Dominican Republic
Catalina Island, discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1494, has been a part of the East National Park since 1975. With its pristine sandy beaches and abundant coral and fish reefs, this little island is a treasure. A few kilometers off the shore of La Romana is a haven for those who enjoy free snorkeling with fins, mask, and snorkel.
Board the boat at 9 a.m. and cruise for one hour to Catalina Island. You'll arrive about 10 a.m. and be able to snorkel "The Wall," where you'll see spectacular corals. Following that, we will cruise to the opposite side of the island to the "Aquarium," where you will enjoy a delicious supper on board the catamaran.
Our French-Dominican staff would be delighted to welcome you aboard our extremely comfortable boat, designed and built by the skipper himself. During your visit, do not hesitate to sit beside the Captain at the helm and listen to his narrative. Or strike up a nice conversation with our two French crew members, who have left everything behind to go on an adventurous journey in the Caribbean. The two Dominican sailors who have been with them since the catamaran's construction will look after the boat before, during, and after your amazing day with us. We can talk to everyone on our small group tours.
Our Quetzal guide, a licensed diving instructor, will accompany you on your snorkeling adventure! Your guide will not only show you the many fish species but will also assure your safety.
After lunch, you will have time to relax on Catalina's beach, snorkel, and observe a variety of species. We'll set sail at 3 p.m. to return to Bayahibe.
On the way back, we'll take our time and sail along the shore of Casa del Campo, where our national guide will provide explanations. We'll finish the day with a sail along the Chavon River, which is famed for its gorgeous jungle landscape utilized in many movies!
Our boat, a luxurious 21.5m catamaran, was built in 2013. It provides enough of room for lounging and sunbathing in a secure setting. The boat can accommodate up to 50 passengers, however we decided to limit the maximum number of daily passengers to 25 for comfort reasons.Read Less
