Description

This weekly bareboat charter from Volos Marina is built for sailors who want an easygoing, comfort-first island-hopping holiday without sacrificing the beauty and diversity that the Sporades are famous for. The route blends calm gulf cruising with the signature highlights of Skiathos and Skopelos, while intentionally keeping the week “human-paced” - allowing long lunches at anchor, swim-heavy afternoons, relaxed arrivals, and enough time ashore to actually experience each stop rather than only ticking it off a list.

Volos is one of Greece’s most convenient bases for bareboat sailing because it offers immediate access to sheltered waters and predictable sailing conditions, particularly in summer. This makes it ideal for families, couples, and mixed-experience groups who want independence and flexibility but also appreciate the confidence that comes from a well-supported operation. Before departure, your crew receives a detailed yacht orientation and systems briefing, inventory review, and guidance on route planning. You depart fully equipped with charts, pilot books, safety equipment, and onboard necessities, and you also benefit from technical assistance and 24/7 emergency support should you ever need it during the week.

About Our Service in Volos, the Pagasetic Gulf, and the Sporades Islands

Day 1 - Volos to Amaliapolis
Your charter begins at Volos Marina with practical preparation: briefings, checks, and final provisioning. Once underway, the first sail to Amaliapolis is intentionally gentle - a comfortable passage that helps everyone settle into the yacht. Amaliapolis is a charming coastal village with a sheltered bay that feels welcoming and easy. The afternoon is perfect for swimming in shallow turquoise water, drifting at anchor while you learn the boat’s flow, and enjoying your first relaxed waterfront meal. For many crews, this first night sets the tone: simple, scenic, and stress-free.

Day 2 - Amaliapolis to Trikeri Island
After breakfast, you continue deeper into the Pagasetic Gulf toward Trikeri. This leg is short enough to remain easy, but long enough to feel like meaningful sailing. On arrival near Agia Kyriaki, you’ll find a picturesque environment defined by fishing boats, traditional architecture, and calm water ideal for snorkeling. Those who enjoy walking can take scenic paths toward the hillside settlement for views back over the gulf. Dinner here is usually peaceful and intimate - the kind of place where the evening is defined by conversation, sea air, and a slow Greek meal.

Day 3 - Trikeri to Tsougkria Island
This is a rewarding passage because you transition from gulf cruising to island scenes. You sail toward Skiathos and make your primary stop at Tsougkria Island, famous for its soft sand and crystal-clear, inviting water. The atmosphere here feels like a postcard: a calm anchorage, bright sea colors, and the freedom to spend the day in the water. It’s an ideal spot for paddleboarding, floating, beach time, and relaxed onboard meals. Crews often love Tsougkria because it delivers the “holiday” feeling in full - without the bustle of a busy port.

Day 4 - Tsougkria to Skiathos Town
A short sail brings you into Skiathos Town, where the experience shifts into lively island culture. Here you can enjoy a proper evening ashore: old-town alleys, vibrant harbor restaurants, beach bars, and shops. It’s also a strategic stop for provisioning - perfect for topping up water, fresh produce, and any items you want for the later part of the week. For guests who enjoy a social atmosphere, Skiathos offers energy; for those who want calm, you can still find quieter corners to enjoy the harbor ambiance without staying in the center of nightlife.

Day 5 - Skiathos to Skopelos (Agnontas Bay)
Crossing to Skopelos delivers a noticeable change in mood: greener landscapes, quieter anchorages, and a more authentic island atmosphere. Agnontas Bay is beautifully sheltered, with pine-covered slopes that reach down toward the waterline. This is a day built for water time - snorkeling, paddleboarding, and swimming with the yacht as your floating base. As evening approaches, Agnontas is well known for tavernas that focus on fresh island cuisine, creating a satisfying “dock-and-dine” experience after a day anchored in clear water.

Day 6 - Agnontas to Loutraki (Skopelos)
A shorter sail brings you to Loutraki, Skopelos’ second port and the gateway to Glossa Village. Loutraki itself is calm and practical, often appreciated by bareboat sailors for its manageable docking conditions. The real highlight, however, is the opportunity to explore Glossa’s narrow paths, traditional houses, and elevated viewpoints. Sunset from Glossa is famous for a reason - it turns the sea and islands into layered shades of gold and blue, making this day feel especially romantic and memorable.

Day 7 - Loutraki to Volos
The return leg is longer, so an early start allows a comfortable pace. This passage is a classic sailing day: open water, steady movement, and the satisfying feeling of completing a full loop. If sea conditions and schedule allow, you can pause for a swim stop along the coast before re-entering the Pagasetic Gulf. Arriving back at Volos in the afternoon gives you time to tidy the yacht and still enjoy one last evening in the city’s lively promenade area.

Day 8 - Volos Disembarkation
Your final day includes check-out procedures, yacht handover, and disembarkation after completing your week of independent island sailing.

About Our Yacht - Beneteau Oceanis 41.1 (2020)

This itinerary is ideally matched to a modern 12.43m sailing yacht that balances ease of handling with genuine onboard comfort. The hull design provides stability underway and creates a cockpit large enough for social cruising - meals outside, route planning sessions, and plenty of space for families. The yacht features three double cabins for up to six guests, plus a convertible saloon berth for flexible sleeping arrangements. The interior is bright and practical for week-long living, with a galley equipped to support daily cooking and onboard dining when you prefer a quiet night at anchor.

From a handling perspective, the combination of furling mainsail and genoa helps streamline sail management, especially for smaller crews. The bow thruster improves confidence when maneuvering in ports like Skiathos Town, and the 45HP engine supports reliable harbor approaches. Comfort upgrades such as the swimming platform, solar panels, inverter, and electric fans are not minor extras in Greece - they make daily life easier, support relaxed anchoring, and keep the onboard environment comfortable during warm evenings.

Closing - Why This Relaxed Route Is a Favorite

This charter is popular because it delivers what most guests genuinely want from a Greek sailing holiday: safe sailing conditions, beautiful water, iconic islands, and enough time to enjoy each place without rushing. The sequence from Amaliapolis and Trikeri into Tsougkria, Skiathos Town, and Skopelos gives you variety in every direction - tranquil bays, lively culture, sandy beaches, pine-framed coves, and sunset villages - while still keeping daily distances manageable. With the operational support of a professional Volos base team and a modern yacht equipped for real comfort, you’re choosing a sailing week that feels smooth, flexible, and confidently organized. If you want a route that’s easy to love, easy to adapt, and consistently rewarding from morning swim stops to evening harbor strolls, this is one of the strongest bareboat choices in the Volos region.
