Description

Preveza Marina provides an excellent launching point for a Northern Ionian charter, pairing modern facilities with calm approach waters and professional pier assistance. Wide fairways and organized berths make arrivals and departures straightforward, while nearby provisioning, chandlery access and fuel service ensure the yacht is fully readied without fuss. From this safe harbor, the coastline opens into a necklace of pine-fringed coves, translucent bays and friendly villages where distances are measured in unhurried hours, not long hauls. It is a region built for a smooth first day, gentle learning curves and the kind of quiet confidence that lets you enjoy each stop more deeply.

Beyond the marina breakwater, the Northern Ionian rewards with reliable summer sea breezes, generally light-to-moderate and ideal for families or mixed-experience crews. Navigation is primarily line-of-sight with well-marked channels, so even new skippers can settle into a relaxed rhythm. Ashore, you will find waterfront tavernas serving day-boat catches, narrow lanes shaded by olive trees and viewpoints where the sea seems to shift through every shade of blue. Because the legs are short, there is ample time to swim at lunch, take a stroll in the late afternoon and still be moored comfortably before dusk.

About Our Service in the Northern Ionian

This is a weekly bareboat charter designed for guests who value independence and the freedom to personalize each day. You decide when to raise the anchor, which bay becomes your swimming pool and whether the evening ends at a lively quay or in a quiet cove under a sky full of stars. If you prefer additional assurance without sacrificing privacy, you may add a professional skipper who brings docking finesse, weather-savvy route choices and local knowledge of quieter anchorages and standout tavernas. Either way, the service is intentionally hands-on before departure and hands-off once you set your course, with our team helping you map out swim stops, lunch-on-the-hook options and marina reservations that match your pace.

From your first inquiry, we keep the planning simple and personal. We share embarkation guidance for Preveza Marina, provisioning suggestions near the quay and practical notes on mooring styles commonly used in these waters (stern-to with lazy lines or anchor, depending on the harbor). Safety briefings, local harbor etiquette and anchoring tips are part of your handover so the week starts calm and stays that way. Distances and times in the itinerary are approximate and weather-dependent, leaving room for spontaneous swims, photo stops and café detours that often become the highlights of the trip.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Preveza → Sivota (Mourtos) ~18 NM • ~3 hours - Cast off into easy coastal sailing with headlands that naturally guide your course. Sivota’s deep indented bays provide shelter and crystal water that invites an immediate swim. Take the tender to explore small sea caves and pocket coves, then come ashore for a stroll along the quayside. Sunset washes the hillside village in warm tones as you choose between dinner onboard or a waterfront taverna. Overnight at anchor or on a stern-to berth, depending on preference and availability.

Day 2 – Sivota → Kalamos ~12 NM • ~2 hours - A short reach delivers you to Kalamos, known for its glassy shallows and fragrant pines. Drop the hook over pale sand for a long lunch and snorkeling session. In the cooler late afternoon, follow a footpath up to a viewpoint for wide channel vistas. Evenings are wonderfully unhurried here; fire up the cockpit grill, watch the stars arrive one by one and enjoy the light slap of water on the hull as the bay settles.

Day 3 – Kalamos → Kastos ~10 NM • ~2 hours - Ease downwind along limestone shelves to nearby Kastos. Kayaks and paddleboards are perfect for tracing the low cliffs and discovering pebble inlets too small for the yacht. Ashore, the village lanes offer a handful of cafés for a mid-afternoon espresso. The anchorage is typically calm by dusk, making it a favorite for a twilight swim before a simple, convivial dinner in the cockpit.

Day 4 – Kastos → Ithaca (Frikes) ~14 NM • ~2.5 hours - Ithaca’s green slopes rise abruptly from the sea, a dramatic backdrop as you close on the harbor of Frikes. Choose between a berth on the quay or a hook in settled weather outside the harbor. With the yacht secure, explore the northeast beaches by tender or take an inland walk to small hill villages that look back across the channel. This is an island where unhurried moments shine: a quiet cove to yourself, a simple grilled catch, a sunset that lingers longer than you expect.

Day 5 – Ithaca → Meganisi (Vathi Bay) ~12 NM • ~2.5 hours - A relaxed leg carries you toward Meganisi’s labyrinth of coves. Vathi Bay offers excellent protection and the kind of clear, inviting water that keeps everyone slipping in and out all afternoon. Paddleboard across the still surface, read in the shade of the bimini or wander ashore for an ice-cream and a look around the harbor. If you like a view with your steps, walk up to Spartochori and let the panorama remind you how compact and navigable this cruising ground truly is.

Day 6 – Meganisi → Lefkada (Nidri) ~8 NM • ~1.5 hours - Keep the morning easy; there is no rush on such a short hop. At Nidri you can top up provisions, sample a livelier waterfront and, time permitting, visit nearby waterfalls for a short cool stroll. This is a good day to recharge devices, take on water if needed and confirm tomorrow’s plan. Sundown is cheerful along the promenade, though many guests choose to return to the yacht for a quieter dinner under the canopy of stars.

Day 7 – Lefkada → Parga ~15 NM • ~3 hours - The coast turns undeniably scenic as you approach Parga, with a Venetian castle presiding over an amphitheatre of colorful houses. Anchor outside the harbor or pick up a berth where available. Swim at a nearby beach, wander the lanes for small boutiques and make your final evening either festive at a waterfront table or reflective with a simple meal onboard as harbor lights shimmer on the water.

Return – Parga → Preveza ~15 NM • ~3 hours - Enjoy a last unhurried morning before tracing your path back to Preveza. Inside the marina, our team assists with a smooth hand-back. Take a final coffee on the quay, exchange favorite-stop notes with the dock staff and begin planning the Ionian chapter you will explore next time.

About Our Yacht – Beneteau Oceanis 45

The Beneteau Oceanis 45 is exceptionally well matched to Northern Ionian sailing, delivering composed performance with generous liveaboard comfort. Typical key figures include a length overall around 13.9 m, a beam near 4.5 m and a draft about 2.1 m for stable tracking. On deck, twin helm stations provide clear sightlines and easy movement, while wide side decks and sensibly placed handholds make foredeck work straightforward. The cockpit is broad and sociable, centered around a folding table that transforms sundowners and family meals into lingering rituals. A drop-down swim platform turns every anchorage into your private beach, simplifying tender transfers and making swim stops irresistible.

The sail plan is modern and manageable for small crews, keeping the boat moving happily in light-to-moderate airs and remaining predictable as breezes freshen. Under power, a dependable inboard engine supports stress-free close-quarters maneuvering. Below deck, the saloon is bright with excellent headroom and ventilation, and the galley is arranged for practical cooking underway or at anchor. Depending on configuration, 3- or 4-cabin layouts comfortably host families or two couples with friends, with storage for a full week’s provisions and personal gear. Tankage is generous for this size class, helping you linger at anchor without constant returns to the dock. Inventory such as autopilot, bow thruster, inverter, cockpit cushions and water toys varies by hull; we confirm the exact specification and linen list with your booking so expectations align perfectly.

Availability on this route is in steady demand because it delivers what many crews want most: short scenic sails, swimmable anchorages and welcoming harbors that feel effortless from first to last day. Reserve your dates to secure the Oceanis 45 and let this Northern Ionian week become the relaxed, sun-warmed chapter you will reference whenever you need a reminder of how good life at anchor can be.
