Private Positano to Capri Day Charter with Sea Grottos, Faraglioni Rocks and Island Highlights

This private skippered day charter from Positano to Capri is designed for travelers who want to combine the romance of the Amalfi Coast with the legendary beauty of one of Italy’s most famous islands. It is a sea experience that brings together elegant departure scenery, crystal-clear swimming spots, dramatic rock formations, iconic grottos, and the timeless appeal of Capri, all within a relaxed six-hour private outing. Ideal for couples, families, and small groups, this charter offers an intimate and scenic way to spend a day in southern Italy, far from crowds and entirely at your own pace.

Starting from Positano gives the experience a distinctly glamorous atmosphere from the very beginning. Few coastal villages in the Mediterranean are as instantly recognizable as Positano, with its pastel buildings cascading steeply toward the sea and its vibrant waterfront full of life and color. From there, your private boat crosses some of the most beautiful waters in the region, guided by an experienced skipper who manages the route while you enjoy the scenery, comfort, and freedom of a fully private charter.

About Our Service in Positano and Capri

The experience begins at 10:00 AM at Positano’s main beach harbor. From the moment you board, the difference between a private charter and a standard excursion becomes clear. There is no rigid group format, no crowded seating, and no rush to keep up with others. Instead, the day unfolds in a personal and relaxed way, shaped around comfort, scenic appreciation, and the enjoyment of being at sea.

After departure, the coastline of Positano slowly opens behind you, revealing one of the most iconic departure views in Italy. Before long, the boat approaches Li Galli Islands, a small private archipelago surrounded by remarkably transparent water. These islands are deeply linked with local legend and are often considered one of the most evocative places between the Amalfi Coast and Capri. This is an ideal first stop for swimming and snorkeling. The sea here often appears brilliantly blue and calm, making it an excellent place to begin the day with a true sense of escape.

From Li Galli, the route continues toward Nerano on the Sorrentine Peninsula. This charming fishing village is known for its clear water, refined coastal atmosphere, and association with excellent seaside cuisine. Even when simply admired from the boat, Nerano offers a beautiful change of scene and a more understated side of the coastline. It marks the transition from the vertical villages of the Amalfi Coast toward the more open sea passage leading to Capri.

As the boat heads across the water, the island of Capri begins to rise ahead, and the sense of anticipation grows. Capri is one of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated destinations, famous not only for its style and history but above all for its extraordinary coastal geology. The first major highlight is the Blue Grotto, perhaps the island’s most famous natural attraction. The cave is renowned for the luminous blue effect created by sunlight entering through an underwater opening, producing a glow that has fascinated visitors for generations. Even from outside the grotto area, the atmosphere is striking, and in suitable conditions the stop becomes one of the most memorable moments of the day.

The charter continues around Capri to the Green Grotto and White Grotto, each of which offers a completely different visual identity. The Green Grotto is admired for the rich emerald tones reflected in the water, while the White Grotto is known for its bright rock walls and pale, almost sculptural appearance. Together, these natural sites show why exploring Capri by boat is considered one of the island’s finest experiences. Rather than viewing the coastline from above, guests are able to engage directly with its most dramatic formations from sea level, where the scale and color are most powerful.

Further along the island, the boat reaches Marina Piccola, one of Capri’s most beautiful bays. Sheltered, elegant, and framed by cliffs, it is an inviting place to pause, swim, or simply relax while admiring the scenery. The atmosphere here often feels calmer and more exclusive than the busier harbor areas, making it an especially pleasant part of the route for guests who want to enjoy the island in a more leisurely and refined way.

From Marina Piccola, the journey continues toward the Faraglioni Rocks, Capri’s most iconic landmark. These towering rock formations emerging directly from the sea have become one of the defining images of southern Italy. Seeing them from a private boat is a very different experience from seeing them in photographs. Their scale, texture, and dramatic relationship to the sea are far more impressive in person, and the area around them often becomes one of the most photographed points of the charter. This is one of the moments when the trip feels most unmistakably Capri.

Nearby, the Natural Arch provides another geological highlight. Carved through limestone over centuries, it stands as a reminder of how powerfully natural forces have shaped Capri’s coastline. The route then approaches Marina Grande, the island’s main harbor, where the mood shifts from pure natural scenery to the lively energy of Capri’s maritime life. Boats, waterfront cafés, colorful movement, and the character of a storied island destination all contribute to the atmosphere here. Depending on timing and preferences, this area can be appreciated as a scenic and social contrast to the more secluded stops earlier in the day.

In the afternoon, the return journey to Positano begins. Far from being merely the final leg of the trip, it is another highlight in itself, allowing guests to relax with refreshments, stretch out in the sun, and enjoy open-water views back toward the Amalfi Coast. Positano gradually reappears in the distance, once again rising dramatically above the shore. Arrival is around 4:00 PM, bringing to a close a private day at sea that combines mythology, elegance, natural beauty, and some of the most iconic marine scenery in Italy.
