Description

Departing from Port Olimpic Barcelona, this southern sailing route introduces you to a world of historic seaside towns, wild natural reserves, and charming fishing villages. The marina’s prime location at the edge of the Mediterranean makes it an excellent launch point for a week of exploration along Catalonia’s lesser-traveled southern coast. With the versatility and comfort of the Excess 11 catamaran at your command, each destination becomes both a retreat and a discovery.

About Our Service in Southern Catalonia

This 7-day bareboat charter gives you the reins to explore Catalonia’s south coast, starting from the Roman richness of Tarragona to the wetlands of the Ebro Delta and beyond. Whether sailing solo or with a hired skipper, this route is tailored for those who value authenticity and variety—from cultural landmarks to tranquil anchorages.

Day 1

Leave Barcelona and head south across 50 nautical miles of Mediterranean beauty to Tarragona. This ancient Roman capital welcomes you with its amphitheater, aqueducts, and well-preserved old town. After docking, enjoy dinner near the historic Rambla Nova, where centuries of culture blend with seaside flair.

Day 2

A short 10-nautical-mile sail brings you to Cambrils, a welcoming harbor town known for its fishing heritage and culinary excellence. Spend the day visiting the vibrant waterfront and sampling local seafood, including famous dishes like fideuà, before a relaxed evening onboard.

Day 3

Next, chart a course toward the Delta del Ebro. This 40-nautical-mile passage introduces you to one of Spain’s most significant ecological zones. The delta’s marshes, migratory birds, and unique biodiversity make it a haven for eco-tourists. Kayak through the inlets or take a nature tour to truly experience this remarkable region.

Day 4

Anchor in nearby L’Ampolla, a coastal gem that offers a slower pace and an emphasis on local flavors. Dine on freshly harvested oysters and mussels from the Ebro River, and stroll the promenade as the sun sets behind the distant mountains. This is Catalonia’s coast in its purest form.

Day 5

Begin the return journey north with a longer sail to Sitges. After 45 nautical miles, arrive in this lively town known for its art scene, boutique stores, and white-sand beaches. Whether you're sipping cava at a beachfront terrace or browsing galleries, Sitges brings a cosmopolitan contrast to the wild beauty of the delta.

Day 6

Your next destination is Badalona, just outside Barcelona. This 25-nautical-mile stretch takes you to a quieter coastal town steeped in Roman heritage. Explore archaeological remains, visit the local market, and enjoy a peaceful dinner on the deck while docked at the tranquil marina.

Day 7

Complete your circuit with a short 10-nautical-mile sail back to Barcelona. Use your final morning to relax, savoring the sea breeze and coastal views before returning to the vibrant city and disembarking at Port Olimpic.
