A remarkable 18-day private yacht expedition connects Sydney with the Solomon Islands through Australia’s eastern seaboard, the Great Barrier Reef and the culturally rich islands of Papua New Guinea. Designed for guests seeking substantially more than a conventional luxury cruise, this long-range itinerary combines sophisticated onboard living with coral reefs, remote anchorages, traditional communities, volcanic landscapes and rarely visited tropical waters. Departing from Sydney’s celebrated harbour aboard an elegant Trinity 55m luxury yacht, the journey offers a carefully balanced mixture of coastal discovery, marine recreation, cultural encounters and restorative time at sea.

About Our 18-Day Australia to Solomon Islands Charter

Sydney provides a prestigious and highly accessible starting point for this private South Pacific voyage. Its world-class harbour infrastructure, professional marina services and efficient embarkation facilities support a smooth beginning, while views of the city’s iconic waterfront create an unforgettable backdrop for departure. Every stage of the experience can be personalised according to guest preferences, operational requirements and suitable weather conditions.

A professional team of 12 crew members manages navigation, hospitality and daily onboard service throughout the charter. Their attentive approach allows guests to enjoy each destination without concern for the practical details of long-distance cruising. Dining preferences, leisure arrangements, celebrations and activity schedules can be discussed during the planning process, helping shape a voyage that reflects the interests and pace of the charter party.

Day 1: Sydney, Australia

Board the yacht in Sydney and settle into its spacious accommodation before cruising through one of the world’s most recognisable natural harbours. Admire the city’s celebrated waterfront landmarks as the yacht begins its passage north. The first day offers time to meet the crew, become familiar with the onboard amenities and anticipate the contrasting coastal, reef and island environments ahead.

Day 2: Port Stephens, Australia

Reach the sheltered waters of Port Stephens, where sandy beaches, peaceful bays and abundant marine life provide an inviting introduction to coastal exploration. Depending on conditions, guests may swim, enjoy water activities or relax against a beautiful New South Wales backdrop before the voyage continues northward.

Day 3: Coffs Harbour, Australia

Coffs Harbour combines a relaxed coastal atmosphere with clear water, nearby islands and landscapes framed by national parks. Discover secluded swimming locations, spend time ashore or enjoy the yacht’s outdoor areas while anchored near this picturesque east-coast destination.

Day 4: Gold Coast, Australia

The Gold Coast presents a lively contrast of striking beaches, protected waterways and vibrant coastal life. Explore nearby islands, enjoy favourable cruising conditions or simply unwind aboard while the crew positions the yacht within easy reach of the region’s natural and recreational attractions.

Day 5: Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Enter the tropical Whitsundays, where brilliant water, secluded beaches and forested islands create one of Australia’s finest cruising settings. Guests can snorkel, swim, visit peaceful bays and admire landscapes situated within the wider Great Barrier Reef region.

Day 6: Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Dedicate a full day to the coral formations and marine ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef. Subject to local conditions and guest experience, snorkelling and diving reveal colourful underwater scenery, while scenic cruising offers another perspective on the reef’s protected waters, tropical islands and remote anchorages.

Day 7: Cairns, Australia

Cairns provides access to the tropical landscapes of northern Queensland and an opportunity to enjoy local experiences before the international leg of the expedition. Explore nearby islands or coastal attractions, relax among rainforest surroundings and prepare for the forthcoming passage into Papua New Guinea.

Day 8: Lizard Island, Australia

Remote Lizard Island is surrounded by reef systems, turquoise water and pristine beaches. Swim, snorkel or explore ashore while enjoying the seclusion of one of Australia’s most distinctive island destinations. This peaceful stop forms a memorable finale to the Australian section of the voyage.

Day 9: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Cross into Papua New Guinea and arrive near Port Moresby, the nation’s principal gateway. The destination introduces guests to a different cultural and geographic environment, with coastal scenery and nearby marine areas leading into an extraordinary sequence of traditional communities and less-travelled cruising grounds.

Day 10: Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea

Milne Bay rewards explorers with dramatic tropical landscapes, transparent waters and islands associated with strong village traditions. Enjoy a slower rhythm, discover rewarding marine environments and appreciate a region renowned among experienced divers and expedition travellers.

Day 11: Tufi, Papua New Guinea

Tufi’s remarkable fjord-like inlets are bordered by volcanic terrain and dense vegetation. Explore concealed bays, coral reefs and local communities, or experience the tranquillity of an anchorage surrounded by some of Papua New Guinea’s most dramatic coastal scenery.

Day 12: Rabaul, Papua New Guinea

Continue to Rabaul, where active volcanic landscapes, historic sites and beautiful island waters create an unusually compelling destination. Time can be divided between cultural discovery, scenic exploration and marine recreation before the yacht continues east.

Day 13: Bougainville, Papua New Guinea

Bougainville offers remote beaches, rich cultural heritage and largely untouched coastal surroundings. Peaceful anchorages and authentic local environments make this a particularly rewarding stop for guests interested in destinations beyond standard cruising routes.

Day 14: Shortland Islands, Solomon Islands

Enter Solomon Islands waters through the remote Shortland Islands. Cruise among secluded bays and island channels, discover traditional coastal communities and enjoy a striking sense of isolation within an exceptional South Pacific marine environment.

Day 15: Gizo, Solomon Islands

Gizo is surrounded by clear lagoons, coral reefs and inviting tropical islands. Spend the day swimming, snorkelling, visiting nearby shores and experiencing the welcoming character of the Solomon Islands in a relaxed setting.

Day 16: Munda, Solomon Islands

Munda is celebrated for colourful reefs, historic underwater sites and excellent diving. Guests can discover its marine landscapes, explore neighbouring islands or enjoy calm tropical water from the yacht’s spacious deck areas.

Day 17: Marovo Lagoon, Solomon Islands

Explore Marovo Lagoon, one of the world’s largest saltwater lagoons. Kayaking, snorkelling and tender excursions provide excellent ways to appreciate its lush islands, extraordinary ecosystems and traditional communities. Its scale, remoteness and beauty make it a fitting highlight near the end of the expedition.

Day 18: Honiara, Solomon Islands

Conclude the journey in Honiara after an exceptional passage through three countries and some of the Pacific’s most varied cruising regions. Enjoy the final hours onboard while reflecting on Australia’s coastline, the Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea’s volcanic shores and the lagoons of the Solomon Islands.
