About Our Service in Port of Roses, Costa Brava, L’Escala, L’Estartit and the Medes Islands area

This route is ideal for crews who want more than village-to-village cruising. It introduces guests to the northern Costa Brava’s artistic and traditional side before gradually leading them toward marine-rich waters and culturally significant destinations further south. The combination of protected anchorages, charming ports, historical interest, and marine reserve access makes this a particularly well-rounded itinerary for a one-week charter. Sailing legs are generally comfortable and realistic, allowing enough time each day not only to navigate but to enjoy being in each place.

Day 1 - Saturday: Embarkation at Port of Roses and sail to Cadaqués
Begin your charter with embarkation at Port of Roses at 17:00. After completing formalities and settling onto the yacht, you depart for Cadaqués, where the first evening immediately sets the tone for the week ahead. Arriving by sea gives this famous village an even greater sense of charm, with its whitewashed houses, quiet waterfront, and artistic identity creating a memorable first impression. Depending on your timing and preferences, the evening can be spent ashore exploring the town and dining locally, or onboard with drinks and dinner in the cockpit while enjoying the calm of the bay.

Day 2 - Sunday: Cadaqués to Port de la Selva
After breakfast, set off for Port de la Selva, a small fishing village framed by the natural beauty of the Cap de Creus region. This stop brings together relaxed cruising and optional cultural discovery, as guests may choose to remain close to the waterfront or venture further to experience local heritage sites such as Sant Pere de Rodes. The sailing leg remains pleasant and manageable, leaving enough time to swim, snorkel, or take the dinghy ashore. Evening here is quieter and more intimate than in larger ports, giving the charter a restful and authentic local feel.

Day 3 - Monday: Port de la Selva to L’Escala
Continue south to L’Escala, where the character of the coast begins to change. This destination is known for beaches, culinary identity, and access to the remarkable Empúries archaeological area. The sail itself is longer but still enjoyable, giving a stronger sense of progress along the coastline. Once ashore, you may spend the afternoon exploring the town, walking near the sea, tasting local seafood, or visiting cultural landmarks. L’Escala adds an important layer to the itinerary because it brings together sailing, local gastronomy, and historical interest within one appealing stop.

Day 4 - Tuesday: L’Escala to L’Estartit
Today’s shorter leg takes you to L’Estartit, a vibrant coastal town that acts as a gateway to some of the most attractive marine areas in this part of Catalonia. The atmosphere here is lively yet still focused on the sea, making it a good place to enjoy both shore time and water activities. Depending on your pace, you may anchor nearby or use marina facilities, then spend the afternoon walking the town, relaxing onboard, or preparing for the following day’s highlight around the Medes Islands. This stop offers a more energetic contrast to the quieter villages earlier in the week.

Day 5 - Wednesday: Explore the Medes Islands area
This is one of the standout days of the charter. The Medes Islands area is renowned for clear water, marine life, and a strong sense of natural beauty. While respecting the local sailing and environmental rules applicable to the area, guests can enjoy an unforgettable day focused on the sea itself - snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, or simply admiring the environment from the comfort of the yacht. Even for guests who do not participate in intensive water activities, this day remains highly rewarding because the scenery and atmosphere are so distinctive. Return to L’Estartit afterward for another comfortable night and a relaxed dinner on board or ashore.

Day 6 - Thursday: L’Estartit to L’Escala
Return toward L’Escala, stopping if desired in scenic coves for a swim or lunch break. A second visit to L’Escala works especially well because it gives guests time to enjoy anything they missed on the first stop - perhaps further beach time, another meal out, local shopping, or additional sightseeing. The itinerary feels richer for including this return, as it avoids the sense of constantly moving on too quickly from each destination.

Day 7 - Friday: L’Escala to Port of Roses
On the final sailing day, make your way back to Port of Roses. This is a satisfying return leg that allows for a final taste of open water and coastal scenery before ending the charter where it began. Arriving back in Roses by evening gives you time for a final meal ashore, a sunset drink onboard, or simply a calm final night in marina comfort before departure the next morning.

Day 8 - Saturday: Disembarkation
After breakfast, check out and disembark at 09:00, bringing to a close a week that has combined village charm, cultural depth, rewarding coastal sailing, and one of the Costa Brava’s most compelling marine highlights.

About Our Yacht - 41 ft catamaran with generous accommodation and practical cruising equipment

This catamaran offers an excellent platform for a week of varied cruising because it successfully combines onboard comfort, stable sailing characteristics, and sensible liveaboard features. The 4 double cabins and 2 single cabins provide flexible accommodation for larger groups, while the recommended capacity of 10 guests and maximum of 12 make it suitable for family gatherings, groups of friends, or mixed sailing crews. The two bathrooms, each fitted with shower and sink, support daily comfort over the course of the charter, especially when moving between anchorages and marina stays.

The interior is designed to function as more than just sleeping space. A fully equipped galley with fridge, oven, and hot water makes self-catering practical, while the saloon and aft cockpit create sociable areas for meals, planning the next day’s route, or simply enjoying time together after swimming and sightseeing. On deck, the wide beam contributes to stability and creates a noticeably spacious atmosphere, especially appreciated during longer lunches at anchor or evening aperitifs with a coastal view. Navigation and safety equipment include autopilot, GPS plotter, VHF, wind instruments, solar panels, dinghy, electric anchor windlass, battery charger, and inverter, ensuring that the yacht is prepared for independent cruising along this varied coastline. Twin 30 hp Volvo engines further support ease of handling in port and confidence during maneuvering.

A Weekly Charter with More to Discover

This itinerary is especially appealing because it combines several strengths within one charter: the visual beauty of northern Costa Brava, the welcoming atmosphere of its villages, the cultural interest of places such as L’Escala, and the natural prestige of the Medes Islands area. Rather than offering only one type of destination, it provides contrast and progression, keeping the week interesting from beginning to end. For guests comparing sailing options in the region, this charter stands out for its balance - beautiful but manageable, active but never rushed, flexible yet clearly rewarding. With a spacious catamaran, an attractive departure point in Port of Roses, and a route that feels both scenic and meaningful, it offers a stronger and more memorable Costa Brava sailing experience than many standard weekly circuits.
