Ideal to charter and own a boat, this very rewarding and enjoyable course will get you ready to skipper a Sailing Yacht.

Pre experience required

Anybody undertaking this course must have some basic skills of the Competent Crew course and knowledge of navigation RYA Dayskipper Shore-based course(available online with us)

Course includes

Certificate, logbook, lunches onboard and accommodation if required.

Sailing area from Barcelona

Amazing locations to visit on the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada coastline including the lovely ports of Sitges and Blanes or spend the night at anchor sheltered off Tossa De Mar.

Course numbers

We limit our numbers on the courses to a maximum of 5 persons to ensure you have plenty of time on the helm with an experienced RYA instructor to guide you through.This is a very hands on practical course

Whether you own a yacht, would like to charter a yacht for a holiday or simply want to learn a new skill the RYA Dayskipper is the course for you!

DETAILS

Itinerary:

The course itinerary will vary depending on the weather conditions during the week, you are involved in planning where you go as this is an essential skill to learn for when you skipper a boat.

Day One

The first morning of the course is spent getting familiar with the boat and all the safety equipment onboard, we would then either plan a sail up or down the coast or sail just off Barcelona to practice some sailing skills. We would then get the charts out and pilot book and look to where we can go for Day two

Day Two

After breakfast onboard we would prepare the boat, destinations might be going South to Sitges which is around a 6 hour sail. Or go North and head towards the Costa Brava heading to wards Blanes, both are very good marinas and super good for an evening out with local tapas and wines whilst you are looking back on the day.

Day Three

After getting some fresh croissants and bread, again the day starts planning the journey ahead and what we need to achieve, there is many practical skills to learn where it is good to throw the boat around a little instead of going in a straight line to another destination. So a shorter trip to Tossa De Mar where you can pick up a mooring buoy and pump up the tender and motor ashore or use the local water Taxi. This is a super stop with an amazing historic town and a very rugged and picturesque coastal line with many anchorages.

Day Four

We often use the 4th day for a night sail into Barcelona, night sailing is an important experience and a highlight being on the water on a starry night. You can practice naviagtion and light recognition and coming into Barcelona and the mass of lights is great practice.

Day Five

We like to finish with a day of lots of boat manoeuvres and parking skills, we start debriefs and certificates and filling in your logbooks around 1500 and packing away the boat ready for a 1600 finish.
