Description

The Bay of Islands, located in New Zealand’s North Island, is a breathtaking haven of natural beauty, where emerald-green waters are dotted with over 140 idyllic islands. Rugged coastlines give way to secluded beaches, while lush subtropical forests frame the vibrant blue bays. Marine life thrives here, with dolphins, whales, and seabirds creating a dynamic and lively atmosphere. Historic towns like Russell and Paihia add charm, offering a blend of cultural heritage and picturesque views. The Bay of Islands is a paradise for sailing, snorkeling, and exploring, encapsulating the serene essence of untouched nature.

Our boat holds a special place in the maritime history of the Bay of Islands, being one of the first charter vessels in the region. For nearly 20 years, she operated as a nautical school under the expert guidance of Keith, who trained many of the local skippers still sailing these waters today. Known and loved by countless people who have had the privilege of being aboard, this vessel has earned a reputation as a cherished part of the local seafaring community. With its long-standing connection to the Bay of Islands and its legacy as a training ground for local captains, her story adds a rich layer of history to every journey.

This classic 42ft Cutter Rig Blue Water 41 was masterfully built in Whangarei, New Zealand, and features elegant design elements like a wine transom, Burmese teak decks, and a stunning swamp Kauri interior. Keith Bradley, who lovingly hand-crafted her between 1984 and 1989, is still very much a part of the boat’s life, as her current owners, Nik and Nat, continue to sail with him whenever he desires. As only the third owners of this remarkable yacht, they have maintained its timeless beauty, ensuring it remains a symbol of craftsmanship and connection to the Bay of Islands’ nautical heritage.
