The gathering begins at 9.30 a.m. next to Qitbay fortress in Alexandria's eastern harbor and ends at 10 a.m. We conduct a comprehensive tour of old Alexandria attractions such as the Alexandria Library and Qitbay Castle.

Qitbay Castle

The citadel of Alexandria is located at the westernmost point on the Alexandria beach, a site that was very important to the architect of this beautiful Islamic monument since it guarded the city against the dangers of the crusaders in the 15th century and subsequently.

The Citadel of Qitbay in Alexandria was erected over the ruins of an old lighthouse established by Ptolemy II in the third century AD. The lighthouse was destroyed by the Egyptian earthquake of 1303 under the reign of the Mamluk monarch, Sultan Qalaun. As a result, we lost sight of the lighthouse, which was one of the seven wonders of the world.

Alexandria Library

The Great Library of Alexandria was created in the third century BC, shortly after Alexander the Great established the city as Egypt's new capital. It is regarded as one of the most significant achievements in the legacy of ancient Alexandria, as the library and the Mouseion, the wider institution of learning of which the library was a part, are credited with retaining the majority of the ancient world's knowledge.

It is unknown when the Great Library and the Mouseion were destroyed, although the period is thought to be around the start of the Roman Era in Egypt (31 BC). Nobody knows how much old information was destroyed in the library fire.

The current complex is attempting to recreate the intellectual light that once shone from Alexandria. The library itself has a massive and visually magnificent main reading room, as well as capacity for almost 9 million volumes to be stored, but the complex also includes numerous smaller specialty libraries, a conference center, art galleries for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, and a planetarium.
