Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
You don't have to be a scuba diver to appreciate the amazing world under the waves!
You float on the water's surface, wearing a mask, snorkel, and fins, admiring the vivid coral reefs, rocks, and coral reef-fish below. A thrilling adventure with amazing memories.
Snorkeling is a fun pastime for the whole family, including children and people of all ages. It can also serve as an introduction to diving or merely an alternative.
South coast Season of Unawatuna: 15th October - 10th April
Our Unawatuna center offers two snorkeling locations for individuals who wish to learn how to snorkel or explore the underwater world with only a mask, fins, and snorkel!
Unawatuna Bay
Unawatuna Bay is not only a world-renowned beach on land, but it also provides an excellent underwater experience. It is also ideal for snorkeling because to its many shallow places. Snorkelers may enjoy a wonderful experience in the Indian Ocean thanks to a tiny ship wreck, rocks, recovering corals, and beautiful fish.
Unawatuna Rocks are only a few minutes away by boat from our diving center. The snorkeling tour lasts around 2 hours.
Jungle beach
Jungle Beach Bay is only a few kilometers down the road, between Unawatuna and Galle. The bay is a local's secret, with a gorgeous beach and relatively shallow entrance spots, making it ideal for snorkeling.
Snorkeling is possible both from the beach and from the boat. This journey takes around 3 hours in total.
During the snorkeling tour, we will introduce you to our colleagues: angelfish, parrotfish, triggerfish, pufferfish, schooling bannerfish, even stingrays and turtles if you look hard enough!
Schedule
When you arrive at the base, one of our local or international Divemasters or Instructors will greet you. You complete the required documentation and make your payment. We take both credit cards and cash.
If you don't already have your own snorkeling equipment, you'll get sized up for it.
Then you will receive a briefing on vital snorkeling site information, important local protocols, safety procedures, recall processes, snorkeling site attractions, and marine life.
Finally, we cast off! Most snorkeling sites can be reached within 10 minutes.
We always snorkel in small groups. Take in your surroundings at your own leisure.
Our local boatmen will show you the ideal areas to spend 2 to 3 hours exploring the amazing underwater environment.
When you return to the diving center, our staff will show you where you may wash both private and rental equipment and take a shower.
You are always welcome to share your snorkeling experience, and we will assist you in identifying all of the different types of marine creatures you encountered during your excursion.
Snorkeling and diving assist to develop bonds amongst individuals from all over the world who share a love of the ocean, and we give a platform for that to happen.
Two seasons
We operate in Sri Lanka's south and north-east coasts, in Unawatuna, Nilaveli, and Trincomalee. Our diving centers are open according to the monsoon season, which affects the climate in Sri Lanka, to offer the finest diving conditions with calm seas and decent visibility. With us, you can dive all year.
Before booking your dive with us, we recommend researching the differences between diving on the west and east coasts. There are substantial variances in undersea terrain, dive site depth, coral reefs, wrecks, and other features.
Unawatuna
Our Unawatuna center is open every year from the 15th of October to the 10th of April, during which time you may experience the greatest diving conditions in Sri Lanka. The south west monsoon influences diving on the south coast beginning in mid-April. Because of these conditions, our Unawatuna center is closed. No need to worry, we're heading to the wild north-east shore!
Bathing and swimming are allowed all year because to the reefs that shelter Unawatuna Beach and Mihiripenna/Dalawella Beach from heavy waves.
Nilaveli and Trincomalee
Our Nilaveli and Divinguru Trincomalee is open every year from March 15th to October 30th. This is the greatest time to dive on the east coast, with calm seas and decent underwater visibility. The north east monsoon influences diving on the east coast beginning in mid-November. The water gets turbulent, heavy rain affects dive conditions, and our eastern diving centers are closed. We proceed south, where the south-west monsoon finishes about the middle of October and the diving season begins.
