Trincomalee, Sri Lanka
The Coral Island in Trincomalee is a relatively tiny area of land built entirely of... you got it, corals! The little island is surrounded by reefs and diverse marine life, making it one of the top diving spots on Sri Lanka's east coast. Because it is part of one of the pigeon island marine national parks, the tropical seas around the island provide several possibilities to see unusual marine animals.
The warm waters support a vast population of krill and other tiny marine organisms, which attract larger creatures, and the diverse array of corals supports schools of vibrantly colored reef fish and crustaceans. All of these beautiful organisms work together to form a brilliant environment for perfect symbiosis on a big scale, making the region a paradise for marine creatures to thrive. The waters, which are teeming with a diverse range of living species, provide an excellent scene for you to dive into and explore.
The location is well-known for snorkeling and diving, and if you want to participate in either of these sports, you must contact a local tour operator who will transport you to the place and allow you to participate. They also provide you with the essential equipment based on the activity you pick.
Living corals and beautiful marine life such as Parot Fish, Lion Fish, Morray Reels, Cornetfish, Starfish, Moorish Idols, and occasionally Blacktip Reaf Sharks and Turtles can be seen.
The season on the east coast lasts from mid-February until the end of October.
You can begin in the morning or afternoon. Expect to spend 2 hours snorkeling.
