Whales and Dolphin watching tour

Our guests can visit Dondra Point in Mirissa, a location renowned for some of the best Whale and Dolphin sightings worldwide, to observe, study, and take pictures of the whales, the largest animals on Earth. The southernmost point of Sri Lanka, Mirissa, is where whales migrate to get closer to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, primarily to breed. Mirissa is also the closest point to the continental shelf. Set sail on a smooth cruise to the depths of the Indian Ocean in search of the magnificent creatures that live beneath the surface of the azure waters. Between the months of November and April, Mirissa is ideal for whale and dolphin watching, as the waters become a playground for a variety of whale and dolphin species. Some of the most commonly seen whales include sperm whales, killer whales, Bryde whales, and short-finned whales, as well as schools of bottlenose dolphins and striped dolphins frolicking around your boat! The blue whale, the world's largest animal, is the main whale to keep an eye out for. Nature lovers will enjoy whale and dolphin watching in Mirissa as they set sail into the ocean.

Our Catamaran

The first of its kind to be introduced to the whale watching industry in Sri Lanka, this vessel satisfies the long-standing need for cruising in safety and comfort in any type of weather while also having the flexibility to be used as a passenger cruiser or a restaurant ferry party boat.

The 59-foot-long, fiberglass catamaran passenger cruiser is Neil Marine's most recent creation. This ship has a lower deck, a main cabin, and an upper fly bridge cabin, as well as roomy side decks and forward, aft, and rear decks. The stern has a swimming platform installed. The seating configuration of the vessel includes both lower and upper cabins, with seating for 72 passengers in the lower cabin and 36 passengers in the fly bridge area above. The ship is controlled from a helm station installed forward of the fly bridge.

The vessel's layout also includes a galley and a bathroom forward of the port hull and two toilet compartments forward of the starboard hull. The lower cabin's center forward area has a bar counter installed. This is the first comfortable boat of this size to be used for whale watching in Sri Lanka, and the seating is fitted with removable cushions so that it can be converted to a party boat or a restaurant cruiser as needed.

The boat has two 1225-liter fuel tanks and twin 330 HP marine diesel engines, which allow it to travel at 16 knots and cover 100 nautical miles. With lighting for the interior, exterior, and navigation lights, the main lighting system is 24-volt DC. When the boat is anchored, there are provisions for installing a generator for a 230-volt ac electrical system with a shore supply connection. If needed, air conditioning is an option.
